KIERION – Local Action Plan for the Social Integration of Vulnerable Groups in Karditsa area

Description

Description

The main problem targeted in Karditsa area is focus on the rapid increase of unemployment and underemployment, the low educational level of the local population (mainly age groups over 40), and the existence of big number of vulnerable groups. These problems have been intensified during the last years because of the crisis plaguing the country.

“KIERION” project is a comprehensive intervention to municipalities of the Regional Unit of Karditsa aimed at the labor and social integration of vulnerable social groups (long term unemployed, unemployed over 45 years of age and with low qualifications, unemployed living in poverty or at risk of poverty and ROM population living in the region). The aim is to promote these high risk groups in Employment and Entrepreneurship. Specifically, the project seeks to promote the unemployed people in Jobs placements or support them to establish their own enterprises or social enterprises.

Useful ideas

The project will benefit from the use of various tools that have been successfully implemented in Greece and abroad, including the results of the Lifelong Learning Programme and Equal Initiative. Indicatively some successful projects which will serve as models are Development Partnership Dyeko, Enable and Mojo projects as well as Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs.

Considering all the above mentioned problems and the development potential of the area that the project will take place, the partnership will apply a comprehensive plan including the following actions:
– Study and mapping of the current situation
– Networking in local and regional level
– Approach and Motivation of the target groups
– Training of the unemployed
– Counseling and Support
– Publicity and public awareness
